Our Mission

Our mission, as the Association of Irish Energy Agencies Ireland, is to advance the interests of our members, share their knowledge and experience and to support implementing sustainable energy and climate actions in their regions.

Who is the AIEA

The AIEA operates by means of an elected Board which includes the Chair of the Board, Company Secretary and Treasurer made up of:

  • representatives from local authorities around Ireland who are responsible for energy related issues within the local authority

  • members can either be direct local authority employees or external consultants engaged by the Local Authority and whom they represent.

The Objectives of the AIEA are:

  • Membership providing community and networking opportunities.

  • Provide Opportunities to Meet and Engage with Peers and Colleagues

  • Mentorship program

  • Conferences and workshops

  • Influence Policy & Practice Use the Energy Agencies expertise and resources to influence the development of local, national, and international policy and practice.

  • Participate in resource acquisition on behalf of stakeholders of energy projects.

  • Establish working relationships with similar national organisations for the purposes of enhancing the objectives of the Association.

  • Continuing education updates

  • Facilitate information sharing for the benefit of the membership.

  • Online membership directory

  • Formulate proposals for improvements in the energy sector and make recommendations to the responsible authorities.

  • To organise and hold events for the purpose enable the Association to carry out its objectives.

So that members can share information & learn from each other and encourage best practice in energy management and delivery, the AIEA members support each other by:
